Cruising
Each summer, members of BHYC get together for cruises of varying lengths along the coast of Maine and occasionally to Canada and as well as points south. Cruising itineraries are designed to provide something for everyone during the course of the summer; the fleet includes both sail and power vessels of various sizes.

Get a taste of a BHYC cruise with this recap of the 2014 August Cruise with the O'Neills.

While the full cruising itineraries are listed, some members choose to join the cruise in sections either because of time or because they desire to visit a particular location. It is not uncommon to have a vessel start out with the fleet, leave for a few days and then rejoin us.

We also encourage those without a vessel to join the fleet at those locations where we have dinner ashore. The coast of Maine has many interesting B&Bs and inns where one can stay, offering opportunities for members to join up with the fleet. Members with boats that are not set up for overnights also take advantage of this approach – arrive by boat and spend the night at an inn and join us for dinner. Just be sure to sign up for the dinner when the cruise sheets are posted so that we can include you in our reservations.

You can access additional information by clicking on the links below:

  • 2016 Reservation Contacts for BHYC Cruises (PDF) - Captains are responsible for securing their own vessel’s mooring or dock reservations. Reservations for group meals or other events will be made by the Cruise Captains based on the cruise signup sheet posted two to three weeks prior to the cruise. You are encouraged to make your reservations early. (Updated 17 April 2016)
  • Ports of Call with Lodging and Meal Facilities (PDF) - This collection of Maine ports of call with lodging and meal facilities is a good reference for our members and guests, and includes the ports of call for the 2016 cruises. (Updated 17 April 2016)

If you're curious about what it's like to go cruising with BHYC, ask one of the members of the Cruise Committee or Greg Shea, Fleet Captain.
