BHYC is located in West Boothbay Harbor, a wonderful sailing venue - protected yet offering easy access to the beautiful Maine coast. Originally founded as a racing club, BHYC has maintained strong ties to its sailing history by continuing a strong sailing program and opening many of its sailing and racing events to the larger community. Sailing Boats Available for Members' Use
All members have access (first come, first served!) to three J/22s and two Boothbay Harbor One Designs. Two J/22s are rigged for racing or pleasure sailing, while the third - with a roller furling system, a Dutchman self-flaking main, and a reefable main - is great for a quick sail without all the trouble of rigging. A 2-hour private lesson may also be purchased for a discounted rate of $50 with the purchase of a seasonal club boat membership. Great for a quick refresher on the boats! Interested? Find out more!

Junior Programs for sailors at all experience levels, ages 8-17
The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club provides summer sailing and tennis programs for youth. Membership in the yacht club is not required for participation in either program. With six different Junior Program Sailing Classes geared for different experience levels, there's a good fit for your young sailor.
BHYC enjoys a full and fun racing season. Summers in Maine are short, but we get the most out of it that we can. You can find a regatta or race for any sailboat and racing class on most weekends throughout the summer. Most races and regattas sponsored by BHYC are open to all sailors. BHYC members can race one of the club J/22s or Boothbay Harbor One Designs.
Regular opportunities for BHYC members to sail and socialize
BHYC members can sail at their leisure by using one of the club Boothbay Harbor One Design or J/22 sailboats available to members. Tuesdays, the ladies gather for lunch and afternoon sailing; the gentlemen sailors of the club go out on Fridays. These weekly events are open to all members and all levels of sailing experience - you can come once or come every week. Bring your boat, come to crew, or just come for lunch and to socialize!
BHYC member cruises along the coast of Maine
Each summer, members of BHYC conduct four cruises of varying lengths along the coast of Maine and occasionally to Canada and as well as points south. The cruising fleet is made up of sail and power vessels of various sizes and the itineraries are designed to provide something for everyone during the course of the summer.

The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is proud of its long tradition of sailing and racing the "Boothbay Harbor One Design" sailboat. Our members are owners and admirers of this special class of boat, which has sailed the waters of Boothbay Harbor since the 1930s. The Boothbay Harbor One Design Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports sailing scholarships for area youth and other outreach programs and organizations to promote BHOD fleet. Our mooring field has moorings of all sizes available to visiting yachtsmen. Find out more on our Visitors page.
